Martin Ringvold-Chico, CA- N32NV-Glasair III Sale and Transition Training
Five years after putting 700 hours on a Grumman Tiger and selling that plane I was feeling the itch ready to get into aviation again. When I decided to purchase a Glasair III I had already decided on transition training with Alan due to the transition training reviews on this page, because of his long standing reputation in the Glasair community and also because of his background having worked for Glasair Aviation. Along with Glasair III transition training I needed a high performance and complex endorsements. I’m glad I did my transition training with Alan.
The weather conditions were nice in and around Arlington Washington the three days I needed for a minimum of ten hours dual for insurance purposes. After basic familiarization, basic maneuvers on day one and a couple of landings we visited seven airports in the Washington State the next two days with a majority of the focus practicing VFR arrivals to airports and landings. Alan will make sure you understand the importance of power management and airmanship in your high performance and complex Glasair aircraft, and a vast majority of the training is the arrival and landing phase of flight. My advice is to show up rested and ready for a challenging and rewarding transition training course.
Alan is an excellent instructor and he knows the Glasair in and out as if it was the back of his hand. Aside from dual instruction he will teach you details of and nuances on your Glasair aircraft that is unique to your model and perhaps down to the serial number range of your build.
Leaving Arlington WA after three days of dual I felt comfortable and capable to take my new bird home and operate her safely. I highly recommend Alan as your transition training instructor in your Glasair.
